Christmas Pom Pom Message Board
Merry Christmas Eve, everybody! I hope you are all able to make the most of this unusual holiday season, whether you are quarantined with family or celebrating with loved ones from afar. With the lack of parties and gatherings this year, you might be looking for some activities to do this Christmas Eve. Look no further than this cute craft project, a pom pom message board!
Here’s what you’ll need:
Yarn (assorted colors)
Pom Pom makers (I used this type in a few sizes but you could also use a DIY method — there are a ton of tutorials on Pinterest using a fork or cardboard)
Sharp scissors
Hot glue gun
Magnetic Dry Erase Board (I got this one from Target for cheap!)
Magnetic letters or dry erase marker
Begin by winding your yarn around the open pom pom maker in an even layer. Continue until the whole side has been covered in yarn.
I love this “Lily Sugar ‘N Cream” yarn brand at Michaels because it is very inexpensive and comes in a ton of colors including these cool multicolor balls.
Repeat the first step on the other side of the pom pom maker.
Once the whole pom pom maker is covered in yarn, use a pair of very sharp scissors to cut the yarn along the gap in the center. Your scissors should fit right in the crack. Then tie a new piece of string around the center and pull tightly into a knot. I found this YouTube video super helpful in how to use the Clover pom pom makers if you have never used them before!
Once you have completed making the pom pom, pull the ball out of the maker and repeat until you have a bunch of assorted sizes.
Trim your pom poms so they look even and fluffy.
Now using your hot glue gun, you’re going to add glue to the edge of your dry erase board and stick down the pom poms one at a time in a miscellaneous pattern. I used about 26 pom poms to complete my 11” x 14” dry erase board.
Kevynn definitely thought the pom poms were a new toy for her to play with, so she didn’t leave my side during this craft!
Now you can use your letter board as a dry erase message board or a magnetic letter board! I used magnetic letters from The Type Set Co which were featured in the winter 2018 Entertain the Idea subscription box.
