Easy Planter Makeover Idea
Happy June! In an effort to counteract this June gloom weather we have been experiencing, we are going to create a bright and cheery project today! It is no secret that I am not a plant person. I want to be, but unfortunately I was just not born with a green thumb. Spoiler alert, pretty much all of the plants in my house are fake. BUT I’m going to give it another go with this cute Peperomia plant that I brought home from Trader Joe’s today.
Being my only living greenery in the house, it definitely needs a special pot to live in! So I decorated one of my old terracotta pots with some painted wooden beads to create this fun and cheery flower pot. This is one of those projects that barely even needs a tutorial, it is so simple. But I thought I would show you my steps in case you want to make one of your own.

Supplies:
Any kind of terracotta pot (reuse something you have! or you can easily find these at a local thrift store, a hardware store, or craft supply store)
Hot glue & glue gun
Acrylic paint
Start off by painting your wooden beads. You obviously don’t need to paint the flat side of the beads since this is what you are going to glue to your pot. I think I ended up doing about 3 coats each to get an opaque color. I decided on 3 different colors for my flowers. Each flower is going to use 6 beads for the petals and 1 for the middle. And for my 5” size pot, I did 12 flowers total around the surface.
Once your beads have dried, it’s time to glue them to your pot! I found it useful to first use a pencil to go around the surface of the pot and plan out where all 12 flowers would be placed with a dot before I started and ran out of room (lol). Then use your glue gun to glue on your wooden beads starting with the center beads then placing 6 beads around the center.
At the end I had hot glue strings everywhere, so I just like to go in with a pair of tweezers and gently pull off any visible glue strings.
And there you have it… a super simple but fun plant pot to decorate your home or patio!
I’ve used these mini wooden half beads in several projects (like this frame DIY and this Makeup Mirror IKEA hack) in case you need some ideas on other ways to use your remaining beads.
I love my new plant! I just need to find a sunny corner for it to live! Are you a plant person? If so, please feel free to share some of your plant care tips with me below! & Wish me luck :P
