Make Your Own Mini Party Hats
I've been seeing miniature party hats around everywhere lately and I cannot get enough of them! Urban Outfitters sells these mini party crowns and the Oh Happy Day Shop sells these mini striped hats. And don't even get me started on these miniature donkey pinatas (can one of my friends have a birthday already so that I can have a socially acceptable reason to order these, PLEASE?). I don't know what our world's fascination is with mini-versions of things, but I'm in. They are ADORABLE.
So I wanted to try to make my own version that could be customized for any holiday, event, or occasion. Here we go:
Step 1: Cut out a cone shaped piece of colored card stock, following the measurements above (of course you can adjust the dimensions if you want a smaller or larger sized party hat -- this size just worked for my abnormally small head!)
Step 2: Roll the card stock into a cone shape and overlap the two edges. Staple the two edges together.
Step 3: Decorate! I used medium sized letter stickers to add phrases to my hats. Using a hot glue gun, I attached a pom pom to the top point of the hat and along the lower edge.
Step 4: Using your head as a measurement, wrap the elastic string around your head from one side of the party hat to the other. Cut the string to your desired length. Poke a small hole in the right and left side of the base of the party hat and string your elastic through the hole. Tie a knot on the interior of the hat on either side to secure the elastic.
Your customized miniature party hats are ready for your next birthday bash! These would be super fun to make for a friends birthday to surprise the guests with a special themed set or a saying that the birthday girl is famous for using. They take only a few minutes to make and they look just as cute as the store bought ones! Why buy when you can DIY, right??
