Friday Favorites: Project 62 — Entertain the Idea

Let me warn you right now, if you think its a good idea to watch some nostalgic home decorating shows from the early 2000s, just DON'T. Like everyone else in the world, I heard the news of the return of Paige Davis and Ty Pennington to TLC later this year and I was overjoyed! Trading Spaces was one of my favorite reality tv shows growing up. If you don't remember it, the premise of the show was that two quirky couples who were friends or neighbors would blindly put all of their trust into each others' decorating abilities and allow them to redecorate one room in their home with $1000 and the help of the lovable show carpenters and interior designers (shout out to Vern Yip, he was always my fav!).

In my mind, I remember being pleasantly surprised by how great the rooms turned out and they always inspired me to want to redecorate my own room in someway. Well my, my, my how style has changed.... I literally gasped out loud while rewatching a few episodes and seeing the reveal of neon colored paint, hay textured walls, and so so many slip covers. How did we think this was a good look back then? And are there still some poor ex-trading space contestants living in these atrocious rooms in 2018?

But I guess what goes around comes around, because design style is ALWAYS making a comeback, which brings me to my topic today: Target's Project 62 home decor line. I know there are tons of older people out there shaking their heads as they walk the aisles of Target's Home Goods section thinking "this is the ugly stuff my mom had in her house from the 60s!" but I'm a millennial which generally means I'm living in my own bubble so this means nothing to me (sorry). I'm SO SO SO excited about the mid century modern design craze and was thrilled to see Target jumping on board with their affordable prices.

Project 62 was released last fall 2017. The name is a nod to the year Target was born in Minnesota in 1962. The line offers an array of modern, functional pieces at affordable Target prices. The pieces are very sleek, have minimal ornamentation, and mostly use a mix of materials (like wood, metal, marble, etc). The patterns are very geometric and contain a lot of black and white with pops of color. I am so excited about this collection! The pieces are all so on trend and are perfect for small-apartment living. I think the functionality of these modern pieces are so versatile no matter the general style of your home. I almost always see something new when I'm browsing the collection in stores, but I've rounded up a few of my favorites below. Happy window shopping!
